Airtight, Low-Energy, Biophilic Wall System
Inevitably moisture will find its way into wall cavities. What happens next is paramount to building intelligently. The Smart Wall is an airtight, low-energy, biophilic approach to wall system design and construction.
This system allows for the efficiency of air tightness without disrupting inherent vapor drive due to the high integrity of sheeps’ wool and the intrinsic characteristics of the industry leading technology behind Pro Clima membranes.
By placing Pro Clima membranes on either side of a wall cavity, the Mento (exterior), provides an airtight vapor open to the outside (up to 36 perms), while the Intello Plus provides the airtight vapor barrier to the inside (0.17-13.2 perms).
As a reinforced membrane, Intello Plus replaces standard blow-in insulation netting and offers exponentially more integrity to the wall. Depending on the moisture levels, its perm rate will vary while remaining airtight.
Made of wood, Gutex fiberboards also allow diffusion as they regulate the interior relative humidity by virtue of their ability to absorb and release up to 15 % of their weight in moisture – without the loss of insulation capacity.
For superior insulation in the cavity, Havelock Wool insulation actively manages moisture without adverse effects. Wool fibers inherently absorb and desorb moisture against 65% relative humidity.
