We’ve been hard at work making additions to our product line that address the needs of the trade, which we loosely define as architects, builders, and commercial installers. Though we have found repeated success in each vertical we know that additions to our product offering will make it easier to get more wool in more walls. These initiatives have been ongoing for some time and are starting to materialize with a new offering in both blown-in and batt technology.
Blown-In
The hurdle we have faced with blown-in is simply the speed at which it can be installed. Whilst there are plenty of commercial installers that use our insulation we appreciate that the adoption rate could be improved with a more mechanical delivery mechanism. So, after years of working with insulation-blowing machine manufacturers with no joy we decided to take the project on ourselves. Diving headlong into the fray we hired an engineer and are now deep in the trial and error phase and progressing to a commercial solution with a prototype that shows real promise.
The goal is to safely and expeditiously move a bag of Havelock Wool blown-in insulation into a blowing machine with little to no effort required on the part of the installer. We will have an easily controlled delivery mechanism available by year-end or before!
Batts
The desired adjustment in the batt equation may be more mundane though equally exciting for us. Trade members love working with wool over toxic alternatives; they would like to move faster on the installation and they would like a more abundant supply. We listened, learned, and reacted. With an investment in state-of-the-art processing technology in late 2021 we are rapidly approaching the commissioning of our new machinery which will address the needs of the trade while enhancing our product offering to anyone interested in using the most dynamic fiber on the planet as nature intended!
Yes, lots going on at Havelock. We are excited and proud of the way our business is developing. We appreciate that we can’t do it without our community which is precisely we try our absolute best to listen, learn and respond. Here’s to lots more of the same and for now it’s time to get back to work!

I like the idea of wool insulation. I just put up a steel framed building with insulation that is fiberglass batts. I am going to put an office work area measuring 15 feet x 30 feet x 8 feet. We will have insulation in the walls and the ceiling. Can I get an estimate on using batts of your product for this project.
Philip Walsh
Absolutely! We will be in touch!

Great stuff!

What is the burnability of wool? Just curious. I love your products!
Philip Walsh
Wool is naturally fire resistant and our insulation is Class A rated for Fire Hazard per ASTM E84. Thanks!
