Hi Friends,
We have some exciting news to share about a major product upgrade for our vanlife community. But before we get into the "what" and the "how," we want to take a moment to say thank you. Havelock Wool entered the vanlife space almost by accident back in 2016 after we bought a van of our own. Ten years later, it remains our favorite business segment. Your creativity, feedback, and passion for building healthy mobile sanctuaries are what keep us pushing forward.
Listening to the Community
As many of you know, we brought new, state-of-the-art machinery online in 2024 to produce our high-performance PRO Batts. While our residential customers have been enjoying these for a while, our vanlife batts remained unchanged—until now.
Over the last year, we’ve heard from more and more of you asking for "PRO tech" for your builds. In fact, many builders have already been manually switching over to our 3.5” R14 residential batts. You asked for more consistency and higher performance, and we’ve decided to acquiesce.
The New Standard: Vanlife Batts 2.0
Starting April 15, we are officially switching our vanlife production over to our new PRO line. This shift allows us to offer a larger, more consistent, and higher-performing batt without losing the malleability you need to tuck insulation into every awkward rib and cavity of a van.
Here is exactly what is changing:

Why the Change?
The shift to a 90/10 wool-to-bico (bi-component fiber) blend is what allows us to use our newest machinery. This creates a more structurally consistent batt that is easier to handle and install, while actually increasing your thermal resistance (R-value).
The larger 24-inch width means fewer seams and faster coverage, yet the material remains perfectly malleable to navigate the complex curves of a vehicle.
Timing & Transition
The new batts will officially go into production on April 15, 2026.
We know some of you have builds in progress or specifically prefer our 100% wool "Old Standard." If you have questions about the new specs or want to secure an order of our original batts before the cutoff, please reach out to us soon.
Thank you again, in all sincerity, for your continued support of what we do. We can’t wait to see these new batts in your 2026 builds!
